A little bit about me

I was born and raised in Libertyville. My father was a 1975 graduate of LHS, my sister was a 1998 graduate of LHS and I am a 2002 graduate of LHS (the last class to go through the Brainerd Building). I currently live in the area with my sister and my cat Fensick (named after Gary Fencik from the Chicago Bears and pictured below).

I was very passionate about physical activity in high school and was a member of the cross country, basketball and soccer teams (2001 STATE CHAMPIONS)! I continued on with that same passion to Illinois State University where I was a member of their Division 1 Women's Soccer team.

I majored in physical education and minored in health education at ISU and I have a masters in adminstration from Concordia University and I am currently pursuing a second masters in Educational Technology. In January I recieved National Board Certification, the highest certification a teacher can recieve. The process was very rewarding.

I am in my fifth year of teaching, my third year at Libertyville High School and I am currently the assistant women's varsity soccer coach.

CROSSFIT

CrossFit has become a large part of my personal life and I am now fortunate to be able to incorporate it into my teaching. I became CrossFit level 1 certified in December of 2011 and in January of 2012, I went out to San Diego with three other members of the physical education department to become CrossFit Kids certified so that we can now teach CrossFit to our students.

What a wonderful experience and we are excited and eager to begin to incorporate CrossFit into the Libertyville physical education program. If you are unsure of what CrossFit is, please check out some of the documents I have below that help explain the idea of CrossFit, some of the terminology and I have also provided two websites below that you can gather information from.

Crossfit.com is considered the CrossFit mainsite, here you can find workouts, information on what CrossFit is, the CrossFit Journal and many other resources, CrossFit is an open source business. The second link is Crossfitcarbon.com, which links you to a local gym in Vernon Hills, this is the gym that I workout at.
