Mrs. Eryn Brown, LHS Dance Teacher and Orchesis Director 
Mrs. Eryn Brown is in her 8th year of teaching dance for the Libertyville High School Physical Welfare Department. In 2011, The Illinois Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (IAHPERD) awarded Mrs. Brown the title, Dance Educator of the Year for the State of Illinois. In addition to her curricular classes, Mrs. Brown serves as LHS Orchesis Director and Choreographer for the Fall Musical. While studying dance at Libertyville's Talent Forum Dance Studio, Mrs. Brown frequently performed on the LHS Auditorium stage. She is very excited to be working with her students on the very same stage! In 1995, Mrs. Brown graduated from Adlai E. Stevenson High School, where she was an active participant in the SHS dance classes and dance company. Mrs. Brown attended New York City's Hunter College and graduated with a B.A. in Dance Education (2000). She performed in the Hunter College touring company, taught modern dance, and studied under master teachers such as Twyla Tharp, Jose Limon Company dancers, and Paul Taylor Company dancers. After dancing and teaching in New York City for nine years, Mrs. Brown returned to her Mid-West roots in 2004 and began her teaching career at LHS. Mrs. Brown is currently a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and will graduate in Fall 2011 with a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography. Additional certifications held by Mrs. Brown include a 600-Hour Comprehensive Pilates Mat and Apparatus Certification (2001), 200-Hour Hatha Yoga Certification (2009), Zumba Instructor Certification (2007), AFAA Group Fitness Certification (2006), and Group Cycling Certification (2009). Under her direction, LHS Orchesis received the honor of performing in the Student Showcase of the IL High School Dance Festival in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Mrs. Brown's musical theater choreography has also been performed at the state level during the LHS performances of Pippin and The Drowsy Chaperone at the IL Theater Festival in 2006 and 2011. A favorite passtime of Mrs. Brown's includes serving as Guest Yoga and Pilates instructor at resorts across the Caribbean and Mexico through Fit Bodies Inc. Mrs. Brown currently lives in Gurnee, IL with her husband, Jeff Brown, LHS choir teacher, and her new baby, Owen.

DANCE AND FITNESS STUDY GUIDES
LHS ORCHESIS DANCE COMPANY
LHS ORCHESIS is an audition-based dance company featuring a variety of dance styles. Members have the opportunity to learn student, faculty, and guest artist choreography to perform in a formally staged concert. Orchesis is open to all grade levels, and auditions are held in November with a performance in March. Contact Mrs. Brown for additional information.
