Course Registration for the 2010-11 School Year
Counselors will host individual course selection meetings with their students between now and February 25th. Students will receive invitations to the course selection meeting a couple days in advance of their appointment so that they have time to prepare. Students should review the online course curriculum guide carefully and thoughtfully consider which courses will be the best fit for them for next year. Students should come prepared to the appointment with their course request form filled out in pencil.

Students: Enter the 3rd Annual Design-a-Shirt Contest
The Spirit Store is sponsoring its 3rd annual Design-A-Shirt contest. Show off your creativity for a chance to win a $25 Best Buy gift card. The deadline to submit your design is Friday, March 5. The winning design will be printed on t-shirts and sold after Spring Break.

Midnight Masquerade at LHS Winter Formal
The LHS Winter Formal is coming up!
When: Saturday, February 20 from 7:30 - 10:30 p.m.
Where: LHS Main Gym
What to wear: Semi-formal attire
Tickets: $15 for a single; $30 for a couple
Tickets will be on sale from Feb. 16-19 outside the cafeteria. Guests of LHS students will need a guest pass. An application for guests can be downloaded here. |
LHS Students and Staff Accept Rachel's Challenge
There was silence in the Libertyville High School gym Wednesday morning while more than 1,000 students and staff members listened to speaker Shane Hamman tell the story of Rachel Scott. Hamman is a presenter with the national program, “Rachel’s Challenge.” Rachel Scott was the first person killed at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999. Rachel’s acts of kindness and compassion, coupled with the contents of her six diaries, have become the foundation for “Rachel’s Challenge.”
In addition to two assemblies for students and staff, an evening program will also be presented for interested community members. To find out more about the evening event at LHS, read here.
Hamman also met with student leaders at LHS to discuss how they can incorporate the message of Rachel’s Challenge into programs at LHS, and First Class and the Student Assistance Program partnered Above, Shane Hamman, a speaker with “Rachel’s

LHS Awarded Grant for Pre-Engineering Program

Libertyville High School received a $35,000 grant to help fund pre-engineering classes beginning in the 2010-11 school year, through Project Lead The Way. The Community High School District Board of Education signed an agreement for the program and grant at its monthly meeting on January 26.

LHS Science Department Receives Grant from ExxonMobil
Libertyville High School has received a $750 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program to support the school’s science department. John and Young Kim, owners of the Mobil Station at 1185 W. Park Ave., Libertyville, worked with school officials to secure the grant, which is one of 2,400 available to schools across the country that are served by Exxon or Mobil stations. The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation.

8th Grade Orientation Survey and Video
Senior Residents of District 128 Invited to Dinner and Show at Vernon Hills High School
Senior residents of Community High School District 128 are invited to attend a complimentary dinner and dress rehearsal performance of the Vernon Hills High School musical, Grease, on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Dinner will be served in the foyer at 4:00 p.m., followed by the musical at approximately 4:45 p.m. in the Auditorium.
Tickets are required for the dinner and are available at the Libertyville and Vernon Hills senior centers. To avoid heavy traffic and parking difficulties, please plan to arrive on campus after 3:45. Please call 847-247-4527 for more information.
